Dj Hypeness

DJ Hypeness though new to some is no stranger to the Reggae/Dancehall culture. This Dominican native grew up listening to the works of Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Buju Banton and a host of others pounding through the walls of her house with their sweet melodies. Her true love for the culture was further discovered when she moved to New York 11yrs ago. Underground dancehall parties became a past time and here she became hooked on the beats and mesmerized by the atmosphere. Whenever she got the chance, she partied and sought new music and new venues.

In 2005 she was introduced to the land of Radio by a friend as a co-host, it was then she instantly developed a liking and stated her new found passion in becoming a radio disc jock (DJ). As time progressed, she learned how to spin on the 1s and 2s and continues to see growth in this talent. DJ Hypeness fought her way through this male dominated business with skill and determination. She harnessed her skills to overcome her fears with every opportunity.

DJ Hypeness appropriately named as she defies conservative playlists, but instead feels the energy and build up of her audience and connects with her audience through the music thus mixing music that feels right in the moment. Not limited to Reggae/ Dancehall, she plays a variety of RnB, Hip Hop among other genres. On the road to being established DJ Hypeness has manned the turntables at Venus night club in Brooklyn NY, Club Element and Leopard lounge in the City of NY, just to name a few.

DJ Hypeness has traveled to multiple cities in the US brandishing her skills, leaving audiences wanting more and begging for her return. To date she has been to Maryland, playing alongside Renaissance Sound, (a popular sound from Jamaica), Mighty Crown in Manchester Jamaica, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Texas and many more.

DJ Hypeness released her first official Mix tape September of 2010 called "PAVE THE WAY" and received exceptional feedback which encouraged the release of her new mix tape "CLEARA"

DJ Hypeness creative genes does not stop in radio. She is also a well respected TV host for Dancehall360. She developed that aspect of her career with Yardrock TV in 2007. Only the best at what she does, DJ Hypeness has had the pleasure of interviewing IcedT , Mavado, Kymani Marley, Elephant Man, Serani and lots more, both established and upcoming artist.
