Taz: Well, Taz is a dancer weh a bring it to the next level, him is a cool youth... is a youth weh everybody can deal wid. I'm very outspoken and I am a people person. Chucky: Where is Taz originally from? Taz: Spanish Town mi come from... Chucky: So, how did you get the name? Taz: Well, a from high school days... you know when everybody a get nickname... and cause my face eva look miserable... yuh get mi... dem look pon me and ask why mi eva look angry... then dem just say mi favor di Tasmanian devil... and a from dat it stick... Chucky: Okay, which high school did you attend? Taz: Catherine... St. Catherine High... Chucky: Okay, how did you first start dancing and why? Taz: A from mi grandfather house enuh... when mi used to stay at mi grandfather, him did have a jukebox... when him play loud... yuh know the juke box with the record pon side and thing... and him used to play pure Ska and Mento dance... and mi used to follow mi grandfather... then mi start go in & out of competitions... and the people them like it... and a from there mi say mi waan tek it to a next level... the day when mi really take it serious is when Bogle come to me and say "Youth yuh can dance enuh"... and mi just take it from that... Chucky: What motivates Timeless? Taz: What motivates Timeless... a di people dem weh come and seh unuh can dance... and when we see people... all hundreds of people a do the dance weh we create... all the interviews that follow, the overseas fans... people from the U.S., Canada, Japan... all dem people who just love the thing... yuh know... Chucky: How did the name Timeless come about? Taz: As mi seh a from the time when wi used to enter competitions... is like one day we have a rehearsal before a competition and after we have the routine lock, see weh mi deh, and we have we costume... we a leave fi go a di competition... and mi brethren seh wait how wi a go competition and nuh have no name... when him say wait him do the "timeout" signal... like inna a basketball game... and him say alright a Timeout we name... so me say "yuh mad, we nuh do timeout", timeout a when yuh tired and waan relax... so me say Timeless... you know... never ending... and idea was good... Chucky: What separates Timeless from other dancing fraternities? Taz: We uniqueness, the styles we have, and the maturity. Chucky: With that question asked... describe yourself in three words. Taz: Bam... Awesome, very outgoing, and vibrant. Chucky: The "To De World" bash in Bridgeport was an enjoyable event. What do you have to say to the people who missed it? Taz: Who miss it? Like you say... it was an enjoyable event... when you coming to a Taz show, expect the unexpected... everything nice and crazy... To the people who missed it... them miss a whole heap of fun... but them can look out for more... To the world thing... Chucky: Taz has been doing major things, what other major event in the works? Taz: First thing when me touch back Jamaica... me haffi make the people dem see me back... Is a while now me nuh deh pon the scene... so the first thing is fi make the people dem know seh me deh yah... We have whole heap more show... We a try fi go LA, Bronx... Do all a "To De World, Costume Edition" something like that... see how things work out... just straight movements and take it to the next level... yuh get me... Chucky: Which came first, the "To De World" dance or the song? Taz: A the dance build first enuh... but when the dance did build, people overlooked it cause it never did have a name... so we name it quick... and when MIA, a artist from Sri Lanka pass through we build the tune from that with Soltex 3000 from Portmore and Arif Cooper pon the Up & Live Riddim... Chucky: Did you create the "To De World" slogan? Taz: No a nuh me create it, it start when Erup first buss, him say a thing weh him say, "E to the R to the world... and Assassin a while back did say to the world to.. but it never really did catch on... it never hold a steady vibes... me just take it to another level... Chucky: With dances being created so regularly and so many looks so similar but with different names and a little addition, what is your take on that? Taz: My take?... Alright, yuh see how "To De World" different from any other dance weh out there... a same so mi build "Powercut" different. Mi just sit down and look pon everybody dances and them style and formulate mi own thing... mi nuh use nuttin weh mi see inna the other person dance... look... "Tek Weh Yuhself and Paperbag" a basically the same dance... nuff people nuh know that or see the difference... but after a while they will and the people start get bored... Me mek it my initiative fi come creative... Since mi deh yah (Connecticut) mi build two new dance weh mi a buss back a yahd... one name "The Revolver" and the next one mi call "Overseas"... Chucky: With that answer given... how does you actually go about building a new dance? Taz: Building a new dance... Mi just keep moving... like right now.. mi deh home a cook... you see when you called yuh hear music inna di background... mi nuh do nuttin without music... mi caan do nuttin without music... more time mi go in front of the mirror and mi build pure new things... like mi seh mi nuh build nuttin weh build already... You really have to keep up-to-date with what is going on... like mi read a lot, and watch T.V... and listen pure music... you have to keep up and stay original. executives. Chucky: How do you prepare before a dance or performance? Taz: Well from high school days mi was a shy youth, but over time mi overcome that... before a show we just build a little vibes and when a time fi work we work... The role model; weed and the brown bottle... just hold a vibes. Chucky: The ladies love Taz, what would you like to tell the ladies that they might not know about you? Taz: What me would like fi tell them?... First and foremost, mi easy fi talk to. I am a whole different person than what people might view me as... To the ladies... me is a man whe love di ladies and the ladies loving me... Fi di ladies, a nuff Love. Chucky: Where is the best place you've ever performed? Taz: Lol... whole heap... but the best... mi haffi say Japan. The vibes of the people... crazy. When mi perform a Japan, is like, the people them nuh really understand weh you a say, nuh understand the lyrics inna the music more time... but when them hold a vibes... it crazy... the Japanese them can party. Them real supportive... Chucky: What would you be doing if your weren't dancing? Taz: Fi tell you the truth, from school mi did want inna the army, mi did love soldier toys and guns... the big gun dem... mi did love the roughness... If I was in the army, I would have to be a General, cause me love to be a leader... yuh see it. Chucky: What word of advice do you have for upcoming dancers? Taz: Pon a level, people nuh really see dancing that serious. A Bogle set the trend, and a that level of respect me a strive for. For the upcoming dancers... aim fi what you want, nuh make nobody say yuh can't do it and stop yuh shine, no reasonable doubt, nuh nuttin, straight aim fi yuh goals, and yuh can achieve it. Chucky: With dancing as the label of Taz, would you be doing music also and if so what type of music would you be doing? Taz: Yeah, me do music... It's something I want to learn more about, the technical stuff, more time mi team up with Fresh Ear... the "Up & Live Riddim", crazy, "To De World" with Arif Cooper... di d do a track with Bugle, but that did get scrap... Plan fi do more music though and learn more... yuh can check the Myspace page for more, http://www.myspace.com/timelessdancersmusicpage Chucky: Describe a typical day with Taz. Taz: Typical day... whole heap of laughing, antics, fun and crazy stuff. I am a joyful person... yuh see it... love fashion, shopping, haffi stay fresh and up to date, after that go get some food, revitalize the body, maybe watch a movie, if me deh home mi love mi game, the PS2... yeah... apart from games and thing, mi kick it back with my son... put in time with him. Chucky: You fly back to Jamaica tomorrow. what's the first stop for Taz? Taz: First stop... after the airport, bam... mi aguh get mi hair wash and groom back cause from mi deh a Connecticut mi nuh do nuttin with it... mi nuh make any and anybody touch mi hair... and when mi say me aguh get mi hair wash and groom, some people might take it pon a level and say, "wait a what kinda youth this" but when yuh a promote yourself and thing, image is everything... yuh have to have a image weh the people like and know seh a you dat... and keep it up... you see it. Me go home and then go straight to the studio. Chucky: It's about the end of the interview, do you have any shout-outs?
